Jim Thompson House was the home of James H.W. Thompson, a self-made American entrepreneur and the founder of the world renowned Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company. The Jim Thompson House is a museum and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. Set in a riverfront garden enclave, at the end of Soi Kaseman 2 (BTS National Stadium), the house encompasses six lovely teak structures fashioned in traditional Thai styles, merged with unusual Western touches on the interiors such as Italian marble floors, crystal chandeliers and indoor staircase. On the ground floor are scarves, ties, purses and gifts. Upstairs, they have ready-made clothes, cards, handbags, silks, cottons and a café, and above that are household fabrics, cushions, linens, and furniture. It is housed in Thai style and a spacious well-lit interior keeps shopping relatively hassle free despite the flocks of tourists who descend here everyday.
